This photographic gallery presents, every three months, exhibitions of photographic artworks from existing or future famous European artists.

In the heart of the European district, the hotel Silken Berlaymont hotel opened since 1996, owns a private photo collection of around 450 artworks on every decorative support.

The art of the 21st century has been fully integrated in this establishment of exceptional architecture designed by the Belgian Serge Roose.

The gallery is located on the beautiful 'passerelle' leading the guest from the lobby to "L'Objectif" restaurant or 'The News' bar. The passerelle benefits from the brightness of natural direct daylight.

The second part of the gallery is located in the large and gorgeous corridor (see picture) linking the two buildings of the hotel and adjacent to the meeting rooms. This locations takes advantage from indirect natural daylight falling down from the passerelle.

Jean Schweitzer

“FOTOSANDWICH”
Jean Schweitwer

Jean is a Frenchman who has been living in Denmark since 1990. With the birth of digital photography, he got Access to this creative tool he has been waiting for unconsciously for the creation of images. He has won since the beginning of his career  a number of awards and contributed to several books on photography. Beside his interest for fine art, he consolidated his photography technique with a parallel work in the area of stock and protrait photography. The exhibition shows Jean's work with sandwiches, a very simple technique simulating film photography double or multiple exposures consisting in exposing different pictures on the same film. The digital world allows a flexibility and opportunities that were already available with film. Jean uses this technique to create images that are based on his own photos and that are at the same time simple in their geneses and complex in their appearance.

The way pictures are chosen and mixed is instinctive even though he has followed some rules. There is indeed a unity of time and place for the photography's used: as a general rule, pictures are taken at the same location and within a restricted period of time. This brings a harmony of colors and pattern in the serial proposed for this exhibition.
